In ports, strong winds can prevent ships from entering the port, they can force restrictions on operations and can cause mooring issues. In airports, strong winds can affect aircraft takeoff and landing, but they can also cause ground handling activities to be restricted or halted. In both situations, wind can result in delays, increased operational costs and reduced efficiency.
The Actiflow Wind App is an advanced online platform that enables ports and airports to monitor wind conditions in detail, supporting better operational planning and helping reduce unnecessary delays and costs.
Current practice: one-size-fits-all wind monitoring
Most ports and airports rely on only a few local wind measurements to estimate wind conditions across the entire port or airport. Operational decisions are therefore based on limited and incomplete information, which often forces organizations to adopt a highly conservative approach.
As wind behaviour is strongly influenced by buildings, cranes, terminals and other local obstacles, wind speeds and directions can vary significantly across different areas of a port or airport. This means that operations are often stopped unnecessarily, even when conditions in specific locations would still allow safe operations.
Solution: the Actiflow Wind App
The Actiflow Wind App is an online platform providing ports and airports with real-time wind data and short-term forecasts at every square meter. The app is customized for every client and features:

- Live wind map: view real-time local wind speeds across the entire port/airport
- Short-term forecasts: Plan flight operations, vessel movements, and ground handling activities hours or even days in advance.
- Custom integration: display wind phases or classifications already used within your organization and integrate our data or visualizations in your existing monitoring tools through an API
How it works
The Actiflow Wind App does not replace official meteorological data from national meteorological institutes. Instead, it enhances this data by combining it with advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations.
Our simulations account for the influence of all buildings, infrastructure and obstacles across the port or airport environment. By combining meteorological data with detailed simulations, we generate accurate, localized and continuously updated wind information and forecasts.
