Actiflow performed a CFD study to analyse the airflow around a military ship

Home > Projecten > Ocean patrol vessel

Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) is a well-known Dutch company with more than 140 years of experience in naval shipbuilding. Since 1874, the company delivered more than 400 vessels to customers all over the world.

As a consulting assignment for DSNS, Actiflow performed a CFD study to analyse the airflow around a military ship. Varying wind speeds and directions were considered. The simulated flow fields were then validated by comparison with wind tunnel measurement results.

Through CFD, the influence of several ship components on the flow field around the ship could be determined. As such, insight was gained into the working conditions on the ship.
